Layla Warfield
Director – Mabrouka Events
Video transcript:
My name is Layla Warfield, and I’m the director at Mabrouka events. We’re a corporate events agency, a family run business, we’ve been around since 2001. So we’re celebrating 22 years in business in 2023. We are now on our second apprenticeship with [Realise], which is going really well. And the first apprenticeship was a huge success as well.
So the first apprentice was a huge asset to us. Unfortunately, we then went into lockdown in March 2020. So she moved on to a new role. And now she’s actually a client of ours.
She works in a medical device company locally, and we organised their Christmas party last year. And we’ve got a series of multiple events this year as well for her company. It’s really interesting that she’s now ended up as a client of ours.
In March 2021, business started to come back the end of that year, we started to think that actually we could do with another pair of hands. So then we thought, well, we need to get someone like Daisy, because she was amazing. And we thought let’s speak to David at Realise.me and see if [they] can help us find some candidates to interview.
So, I think we started working with him and his team, beginning of 2022. And then he had someone that helped find suitable candidates and my sister and I interviewed various candidates, and we found Holly who joined us in July of last year, and she’s doing really well. So, she’s a huge help to all of us, especially me.
She’s got access to our Instagram account. She’s client facing now. And she’s venue finding as well as booking all the transient accommodation. And she supports all three directors by producing quotes and confirmations and everything. She does everything. Yeah, she’s been on site inspections with me with clients. She’s been to some supplier events with me. She’s been on site with me. We did a big event for 100 people in September for a pharmaceutical client in a hotel and she was on site with me supporting that.
So she’s had lots of great content for her apprenticeship coursework. Lots of hands-on experience. She’s fantastic. And Daisy was the same as well, the apprentices that we’ve had, you know, it’s on the job training. So we’re moulding them into the perfect teammates.
